Study finds a stunning number of violations of the Safe Drinking Water Act

A study by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) has found that in every state, contaminants are easily evident in tap water. Widespread violations and inadequate enforcement of the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) for more than 25 years has been documented by the NRDC. An analysis in 2015 shows nearly 77 million people were served by community water systems reporting violations. Follow-up enforcements to these violations often were under 10%.
